View out out window. Car wash. This shot does show the sheep market to the right. I will get it one of these days
Well, we made it to Addis Ababa. We landed last night around 9pm and made it to our hotel by 11. There we had a lovely traditional dinner and hit the hay. This morning we were awoken by morning prayers and the sun streaming through the window. I thought I had slept until 11 am it was so bright. Andrew reassured my it was before 7am and I should go back to sleep. That was the first of many times I thought, "we are no longer in the alps."We went to the Ethnographic museum and then wandered around Addis. This evening we went to a traditional restaurant with traditional singing and dance. The dude at the hotel said, "white people all go and really like it." This was not, from our viewm a ringing endorsement, but we went anyway. The crowd was not all white. In fact, it it was full of people on dates and out with their extended families. We had a great time
Dinner tonight
We haven't posted food pics for awhile, so I thought it was time.
The dancing was amazing. They do this thing where the women flip their hair. I have the hair for it, but not the rhythm (hair note: I finally washed it, and it is back to normal, oh thank god. Oh and I quickly realized that I would have done better to get my hair cut here. they would have known what to do with me.)
Addis is loud, and busy and exhausting and fascinating and fun all at once. It really feels like the adventure is beginning......
Internet access is on and off. We will update when we can.
