Free State Beauty

The Free State in South Africa is not usually known for its scenery, and we can't figure out why. This place is stunning. Driving through the veld yesterday we passed fields of sunflowers and wild flowers. The sky is big here dotted with lazy clouds. Now we are in the town of Clarens, which is a tourist town/artist colony near Golden Gate National Park (the name made us smile. We have a Golden Gate park too.) Our hotel has views of the mountains and we had an excellent hike in the park yesterday afternoon. I thought I would toss up a few shots to give you an idea of the natural beauty around here.
