The cell phone tipped us off that we had crossed into Italy, but the walk-through that our hostess gave us of the B&B confirmed it. She walked us into the kitchen and explained how to make the 5 different kinds of coffee you may want in the morning. She even made Andrew practice with the espresso machine to make sure he had his technique down. “Here is for Italian coffee, there you can make American, this has instant, this is the barley coffee” Umm, wait, barley coffee? Andrew asked why people drink barley coffee and our hostess replied, “I do not understand, but people they like it.” (Can you read that with an Italian accent? It helps, put pauses between the words) Finally back in a dark corner almost untouched was the decaf.
I miss Italy. Please drink coffee, taste some baci gelato, enjoy prosciutto & buffalo mozzarella sandwiches, eat lots of quattro stagioni pizza and try to look chic and sophisticated in my honor. have fun!
